Azure Window

Recalling his 2010 MedTrek around the Mediterranean island of Gozo and his photo of the iconic Azure Window, which has collapsed into the sea.

The world-renowned limestone Azure Window on Gozo, an island in the Maltese archipelago, looked sturdy seven years ago when The Idiot took this photograph while MedTrekking around the island in search of the nymph Calypso. But corrosion had weakened it by the time it collapsed during a heavy storm and raging sea this week.”Heartbreaking,” tweeted the prime minister of Malta.
