Ice Cream

Determining how long it takes for soft serve ice cream to melt in 105 °F heat at various fast food joints in Redding, CA.

DQ (aka Dairy Queen) soft serve ice cream melts much more slowly in 105 °F heat than the equivalent serving at most other fast food outlets, including the especially fast-melting soft serve ice cream at McDonald’s, in Redding, CA.
Besides the heat, melting is obviously affected by the ingredients of the ice cream. DQ soft serve contains 5% butterfat which could explain everything.
