The Idiot Gets Licensed

Believe it or not, I have now MedTrekked 8,802 kilometers (5,470 miles) around the Mediterranean Sea and will follow in the footsteps of Alexander the Great from Izmir, Turkey, to Alexandria, Egypt, after I complete my next book: “The Idiot and the Odyssey II: Myth, Madness and Magic on the Mediterranean” for publication on Valentine’s Day 2013.

Although the California Department of Motor Vehicles refused to issue me vanity license plates reading IDIOT, they just approved the use of MEDTREK, which is what I call my ongoing peregrination around the Mediterranean.

The MedTrek Meets The Road

My appropriation of the MEDTREK tag to adorn my Barcelona-red Prius was not contested by medical, medical marijuana, shipping and hiking companies using the same name. DMV sources tell me that I am entitled to use MEDTREK because I have employed the word in articles and books since 1998.

My two-decade MedTrek project is expected to conclude on December 31, 2017. At that time the DMV will probably agree to issue me license plates reading IDIOT.

MedTrek LIcense Today, Idiot Tomorrow?
