Why Doesn’t The Idiot Swim Into Syria?

The Idiot isn’t just walking around the Mediterranean Sea. His MedTrek also involves lots of practical and pleasurable swimming. The second week on his current outing across southern Turkey to Syria had him working on his stroke in a variety of situations.

Long-time followers of the Idiot will recall that he swam across the Hellespont in northern Turkey when he left Europe and entered Asia. And now he’s wondering if he shouldn’t swim beyond Turkey when he reaches the border with Syria. After all, it’s only a little over 200 kilometers before he’ll reach Lebanon.
