Snail Mail

Wondering, after a five-week trip to the South Pacific, why snail mail and paper solicitations still exist.

The Idiot opens 90% of his mail because, well, you never know. In the tub following his recent trip, 27.8% of 231 opened envelopes want money (mainly charities); 20.7% concern money (bills, tax information and statements); 15% are totally random solicitations for money (new credit cards, advertisements, off-the-wall offers); 15% are publications; 12% are personal cards and letters; 4.5% contain money; and 5% is "other." All but 5% of entire pile has been recycled.
