The Idiot bit the bullet and ordered a double hamburger and vanilla shake at Gene’s in order to fairly sample the menu created by new co-owner Amanda Wert. Foodies in Redding remember Gene’s from the 1950s when a burger cost 19 cents. It’s worth much more than that today.
