Blue Walking

After rigorously MedTrekking the savage coast of southern Turkey, The Idiot is now cruising and schmoozing on the French Riviera as a guest guide for The Blue Walk (www.thebluewalk.com).

These comparatively easy seaside hikes take American women on mesmerizing half-day strolls between Cannes and the Italian border. One favorite Blue Walk, around the Cap d’Antibes, was where The Idiot began the MedTrek described in The Idiot and the Odyssey: Walking the Mediterranean.

The Idiot’s accommodation is as comfy as the walks. He’s squatting a penthouse apartment in the old town of Nice that looks onto roofs, the cathedral and the sea. There’s even a washing machine.

It’s not all hard work. The Idiot manages to get in a swim everyday; visits old friends like Nall, now the artist-in-resident in Monaco; catches sunsets from his terrace; and enjoys a delicious cappuccino when he crosses the border from France into Italy.
