The Idiot is giving students at Gainesville High School in Florida an opportunity to win valuable swag and expensive books before his series of presentations to senior classes from April 18-22. All they have to do is answer simple questions about “The Idiot and the Odyssey: Walking the Mediterranean” and “The Idiot and the Odyssey II: Myth, Madness and Magic on the Mediterranean.”
Tyler Rice, who gained local notoriety when he offered to fly to California in a Cessna 150 and personally pilot The Idiot to Florida, won a “Follow The Idiot” baseball cap when he correctly and quickly answered the question “Why is The Idiot’s MedTrek a twenty year project?” Answer: Because that’s how long it took Odysseus to go to the Trojan War and return to his home in Ithaka.
Ainey Cortes won a copy of “The Idiot and the Odyssey II: Myth, Madness and Magic on the Mediterranean” when it took her just seconds to respond to “Why are there twenty-four chapters in ‘The Idiot and the Odyssey II’?” Answer: Because that’s how many books there are in both the “Iliad” and the “Odyssey.”
Similar questions posed during the next two weeks will provide “Idiot-ic Giveaways” that include a “The Idiot and the Odyssey II” baseball cap, a large “The Idiot and the Odyssey II” T-shirt, a “Walk It Off” tank top and “The Idiot and the Odyssey II” iBooks and paperbacks.
Although The Idiot told students in an amusing video that he would not make be able to make it to Florida because he would be arrested when he showed up on campus buck naked smoking a gigantic joint, their outcry quickly convinced him to change his mind and make the trip.
