About to take the stage at the Sausalito Library to discuss Princess Grace and the Monaco royal family after watching seductive snippets from Grace Kelly’s movies.
The Idiot, who covered Monaco as a journalist for over two decades and wrote a chapter about the principality in The Idiot and the Odyssey: Walking the Mediterranean, discussed everything from Princess Grace’s pre-marital sexual dalliances and details of the car crash that took her life in 1982 to what her three children have been doing since her death.
One listener in the audience chastised him, saying “You should be ashamed of demeaning a royal American icon.”
“I’m not,” replied The Idiot to scattered applause. “She was just a human being with foibles like the rest of us. And these are the facts.”
