Like almost everyone else getting advice from the Oracle at Delphi on Sunday, I couldn’t resist marveling at the renowned bronze statue of the Charioteer of Delphi in the museum adjacent to the stunning mountainside archeological site.
But I think that I was the only visitor that day who came to the realization that I have something very much in common with this life-size relic dating from 478 BC and used as a votive offering in the 474 BC Olympic Games.
What is it? The noble appearance? The victor’s headband? The coloured eyes? The calm disposition?
Nope. Feet.
My feet, after walking more than 7,000 kilometers around the Mediterranean Sea, look exactly like the Charioteer’s. They’re so much like his, in fact, that I’m not even going to post a picture of mine because the resemblance is so eerie. His tell the whole story and may make you think twice before deciding to Follow the Idiot on the Peloponnese.
And after walking 33-kilometers on my first day of MedTrekking in the Peloponnese my feet and I wound up @
NB: This wasn’t my idea but a reader requested that I post a photo of my own feet to illustrate the resemblance with the Charioteer’s.
