Unsurprised, as someone who regularly walks on urban and rural streets, that U.S. pedestrian deaths have hit their highest level in 30 years.
The Idiot, who knows how dangerous it is to cross streets in rural and urban areas, was not particularly shocked that a record-high 6,590 pedestrians were killed in motor-vehicle crashes in the U.S. last year, according to a report by the Governors Highway Safety Association. That’s five percent more than in 2018 and 50 percent more than in 2009. Experts contend that, among other things, both drivers and pedestrians are increasingly distracted by smartphones and impacted by bad lighting.
