The Idiot spent a week strolling on the shores of freshwater Lake Champlain in Vermont before he flies to Beirut on 9/11 to resume the MedTrek on the Lebanon and Israel seasides.
His training hikes and walking workouts took him on paths in green forests, through verdant farms and into one of his favorite cities.
Along the way he met a cow named Giselle, a boat called the Ticonderoga and some Adirondack chairs before encountering a Civil War general.

Although no longer in service on Lake Champlain, The Idiot spent two hours investigating the Ticonderoga at the Shelburne Museum.
Giselle, who has a day job at Shelburne Farms, produces 6-8 gallons of milk daily.
Many Idiot-ic saunters were along Lake Champlain in Burlington, which is one of The Idiot’s favorite cities in the United States. Tucked between the lake and the hillside University of Vermont, downtown Burlington is one of the most animated and delightful urban walking areas in the country.

Next week: The Idiot takes a road trip to DC and walks with a 103-year-old friend.
