There are so many peaceful sights and sites on the MedTrek along the 383-kilometer coast of the Republic of Cyprus that perhaps only an Idiot would want to cross the United Nations-patrolled Green Line, the buffer zone that divides the island country, into Turkish-occupied northern Cyprus.
A peaceful, shady bench on the seaside in Paphos.
A peaceful swimming hole enjoyed after an eight-hour MedTrek through the Akamas Peninsula National Park.

A peaceful Greek Orthodox chapel on the seaside at “The Sunset Point of Cyprus.”
A peaceful and easy-to-walk lava beach near Agia Marina.
And there are many spots, from the eastern seaside near Famagusta to the western coastal village of Kato Pyrgos, that provided The Idiot and an innocent American women with opportunities to simply relax and enjoy the path.
The relaxing fig tree at the Baths of Aphrodite.
The relaxing Mayflower boat on the Latchi beach.
The relaxing remains of the basilica at Agios Georgios.
The relaxing “Rambo Special” ice cream cone at the end of a day’s outing.
The relaxing look back at the last beach in western Cyprus from the top of a cliff inside the UN buffer zone.
So why leave all this to take an innocent American woman across the Green Line, which was created after Turkey invaded Cyprus in 1974?
Why does veteran MedTrekker Liz Chapin want to leave the Republic of Cyprus to hike around the Turkish-occupied northern part of the island country?
Because there will be more peaceful sights/sites and relaxing opportunities on the other side.
Watch this space.
