Adieu Paris

Taking his last 6 a.m. stroll through Paris before bidding adieu to the City of Light (La Ville Lumière).

The Idiot learned why Paris is called the City of Light (La Ville Lumière) when he helped write a guidebook to the place for Pan American World Airways (Pan Am) in 1972.
It’s not because the city had 56,000 gas lamps in the 1860s, or because there are now 20,000 lightbulbs on the Eiffel Tower, or because of the 300-plus illuminated sites, sights and monuments.
It’s because of the city’s leading role during the Age of Enlightenment in the 18th century.
