The horizontal stripes in the rainbow-like pedestrian crossing on rue des Archives in Paris, where The Idiot lived from 1971-73, represents the diversity of the LGBTQ community. In the original eight-color version, pink stood for sexuality, red for life, orange for healing, yellow for the sun, green for nature, turquoise for art, indigo for harmony, and violet for spirit.

Joel Stratte-McClure has been a global trekker since the 1970s.
