Proteining

Having a reflective protein-rich breakfast after an early morning  spin and swim workout at the YMCA in Redding, California.

Reflecting on today’s birthdays (MedTrekker/partner Liz Chapin Marches forth today in Scituate, Massachusetts) and deaths (Medtrekker/swimmer Rene Machetti died today in Antibes, France) while breakfasting on his deck on the 60th straight day without rain in northern California.

Liz Chapin had an “I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it” attitude while Medtrekking in Turkey and Cyrpus with The Idiot.

Rene Machetti (right), who swam with The Idiot on the same masters’ team in Antibes for two decades,  always enjoyed philosophizing during our relaxed evening dinners while MedTrekking in Spain. Rene also joined The Idiot, and Des Baum (left), on the swim across the Hellespont in Turkey. (Photo: Liz Chapin)

About Joel

Joel Stratte-McClure has been a global trekker since the 1970s. He lived in France for over 30 years, working as a journalist, before he turned his attention to a unique life-time-project of walking the shores of the Mediterranean. The first 4,401 kilometers are explored in his inspirational and entertaining first book "The Idiot and the Odyssey: Walking the Mediterranean." The next 4,401 kilometers are covered in the gods-filled sequel, "The Idiot and the Odyssey II: Myth, Madness and Magic on the Mediterranean,” published on Valentine's Day 2013. The last 4,401 kilometers will be discussed in the last book of the trilogy currently entitled "The Idiot and the Odyssey III: Alexander the Great Walks the Mediterranean."
