There were ample reasons for The Idiot to be well-armed during his 20-year-walk around the Mediterranean Sea.

After all, he was confronted by swordsmen in France, tanks in Cyprus and Lebanon, spears in Italy and Tunisia, archers and cannon balls in Greece, marching soldiers in Lebanon, automatic weapons in Egypt, knives and spears in Italy and Tunisia, Trojan horses and hot peppers in Turkey, and armed military troops, sharp razors and other types of armor everywhere else.
