Where Did The Idiot Eat, Pray And Rove In Southwestern France?

The Idiot’s recent odyssey in southwestern France saw him eat, pray and rove from Bordeaux to Biarritz and Pèrigueux to Auch. Besides hosting numerous promotional events for “The Idiot and the Odyssey” trilogy of travel narratives, here is just a scintilla of what you missed.

Pray: The Périgueux Cathedral, dating from 1669, is located in the prefecture of France’s Dordogne department.

Eat: Lunch at the amusingly named Hercule Poireau restaurant in Périgueux, France.

Rove: Examining a medieval watchtower on the Isle River in Perigueux, France.

Pray: The Saint-André Cathedral in Bordeaux.

Eat: A light starter for lunch at Le Noailles brasserie in Bordeaux. Yes, that’s bone marrow.

Rove: Examining the bronze statue of a slave that was installed last May on the Gironde River in Bordeaux.

Pray: Visiting the Auch Cathedral in France’s Midi-Pyrénées region.

Eat: Dining on a duck brochette at Le Neuvième restaurant in Auch.

Rove: The remains of a medieval tower in a farmer’s field in the Gers department near Bazian, France.

Pray: The entrance to the cathedral in Condom, France.

Eat: The facade of La Taverne de d’Artangan in Lupiac, France.

Rove: Admiring a new table top at a lake near Lupiac, France.

Eat, Pray, Rove: The Idiot and travel companion John Keeney are caught using their phones after praying, eating and roving in Biarritz, France.

The next 4,401 kilometers are covered in the gods-filled sequel, "The Idiot and the Odyssey II: Myth, Madness and Magic on the Mediterranean,” published on Valentine's Day 2013.
