Where Did The Idiot Travel Before The Pandemic Confinement?

It’s now been just over a year since The Idiot enjoyed an adventure outside the United States.

The pandemic confinement has resulted in the longest period he’s continuously been on U.S. soil since he was a sophomore in high school 55 years ago.

Here are a few places he gallivanted during the two decades before the pandemic interrupted everyone’s 2020 travel plans.

2004 – MedTrekking in Italy during his 20-year walk around the Mediterranean Sea.

2005 – Meeting his two children in England.

2006 – Making a fact-finding visit to Cuba.

2007 – Assessing homeless housing in Paris.

2008 – Hiking in South Africa.

2009 – MedTrekking in Italy during his 20-year walk around the Mediterranean Sea.

2009 – Exploring Burma (Myanmar).

2010 – Protesting in Tibet.

2011 – Exploring the Galapagos.

2012 – Turning 64 in London.

2013 – Cleaning up after a MedTrek stint in Turkey during his 20-year walk around the Mediterranean Sea.

2014 – Conducting sociological research in southwestern France.

2015 – Promoting “The Idiot and the Odyssey” travel narratives on television in Cyprus during his 20-year walk around the Mediterranean Sea.

2016 – Starting the MedTrek segment in Egypt during his 20-year walk around the Mediterranean Sea.

2017 – Concluding his 20-year walk around the Mediterranean Sea in Tunisia.

2018 – Presenting “The Idiot and the Odyssey III: Twenty Years Walking The Mediterranean,” the last book in the trilogy of travel narratives about his meander around the Mediterranean Sea, to Queen Elizabeth in London.

2019 – Hiking to a monastery on the island of Patmos in Greece.

2020 – Taking selfies with whales in Mexico.
