He was on a mission to get into an exclusive event next month that was first held the year he was born.

The Idiot wandered for hours on the narrow cobblestone streets in the old town of Nice.

The Idiot attended a promotional cocktail party for The Idiot and the Odyssey trilogy of travel narratives, the three books about his 20-year walk around the Mediterranean Sea, at the 17th century Palais Lascaris in the old town of Nice.

The Idiot visited the gallery of artist friend Michel Anthony to buy a $100,000 sculpture…but it was closed.

The Idiot walked to the Nice Airport on the Promenade des Anglais the day before he left for Los Angeles. The city is described in The Idiot and the Odyssey: Walking the Mediterranean which was published in 2008.

The Idiot, who spent over 20 years living in the south of France, said goodbye to his daughter Sonia at her office in Nice before catching a flight to Los Angeles.

The Idiot, who worked as a journalist when he lived on the French Riviera from 1984-2004, accomplished his mission in Nice when got a press pass to next month’s Nice Jazz Festival, which was first held in 1948.
